17 Aug 2026

As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting children’s health and supporting preventive healthcare, he Health Education Department, under the Clinical Operations Directorate at the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), contributed to the Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA) Summer Program by delivering a series of interactive health education sessions for children aged 7-12 years throughout July and August 2026. The sessions aimed to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors and empower children to adopt sustainable healthy habits from an early age.

The sessions focused on key health promotion topics, including healthy nutrition, hydration, personal, hand and oral hygiene, physical activity, healthy sleep habits and emotional wellbeing. Interactive presentations, practical demonstrations, educational games, quizzes and group discussion were used to encourage children’s active participation such as building a healthy plate, recognizing healthier food choices, establishing bedtime routine, learning simple breathing exercise for self-regulation, expressing gratitude, and identifying trusted adults for support. These activities contributed to developing children’s healthy decision-making skills, strengthening self-confidence, reinforcing behaviors that support healthy growth, learning, concentration, and enhancing physical, psychological and social well-being.

In this context, Dr. Maryam Al Emadi, Director of Clinical Operations and Senior Consultant Family Medicine, emphasized that collaboration with community partners is one of the key pillars of promoting preventive healthcare. She noted that the partnership with the Qatar Sports for All Federation reflects a shared commitment to empowering children with the knowledge and skills needed to establish healthy behaviors from an early age. “We continue to create supportive community environments that promote health, wellbeing, and heathier future generations” Added Dr. Maryam.

Dr. Sarah Rashid Musa, Acting Manager of the Health Education Department and Consultant Community Medicine, emphasized that this initiative contributes to achieving the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 through continued investment in human development and the promotion of community health. It also supports the National Health Strategy 2024-2030 and the PHCC Corporate Strategy 2024-2030 by promoting health literacy, encouraging healthy behaviors, disease prevention, and empowering individuals and communities to maintain their health.

“Through interactive health education approaches, children were encouraged to recognize their own health behaviors, set simple health goals, monitor their progress using the Healthy Habit Tracker and involve their families in maintaining these habits. By providing practical skills, continuous encouragement, and enjoyable learning experiences, the program aimed to build children’s confidence in making healthy choices and sustaining lifelong healthy habits that support children’s physical, mental and social wellbeing”, added Dr. Sarah Rashid.
