In a new step reflecting Qatar’s ongoing commitment to promoting student health and ensuring their well-being in the school environment, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), represented by the School Health Department, in strategic partnership with the Qatar Diabetes Association, organized the Third Meeting of the Support Group for Parents of Children with Diabetes. The event took place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Park Hyatt – Msheireb.
The meeting brought together a distinguished group of representatives from the health, education, and community sectors, including Hamad Medical Corporation, Sidra Medicine, and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education — all in a scene that reflected the spirit of cooperation and integration in supporting students facing chronic health challenges.
This meeting is the result of ongoing efforts and a fruitful partnership between the Corporation and the Association, aimed at building a comprehensive support system that enhances the quality of life for students living with diabetes. It also offers their families an interactive platform to exchange experiences, discuss daily challenges, and explore effective solutions in cooperation with schools and healthcare teams.
The event featured diverse presentations and key topics, including:
● A showcase of the achievements of the School Health Department in awareness, training, and professional development, including the implementation of health programs targeting students, parents, and educational staff.
● Ongoing field training for school nursing staff on how to effectively manage diabetes cases, in collaboration with partners from the health sector.
● Review and update of school healthcare protocols to align with international standards and ensure student safety.
Participants also reviewed future plans to strengthen coordination between the health and education sectors, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment for all students, especially those requiring special healthcare.
The School Health Department emphasized that this meeting marks a pivotal milestone in a series of quality initiatives aimed at empowering parents and activating their role as essential partners in their children’s educational and health journey. It added that this collaboration represents a successful national model of integration between entities and enhances students’ ability to adapt and succeed both inside and outside the school.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed that supporting students living with diabetes is a long-term investment in building a health-conscious, confident generation that is fully engaged in its community. A healthy educational environment is not just a goal, but a collective responsibility shared by all sectors to achieve sustainable development for Qatari society.
