In an atmosphere filled with appreciation and gratitude, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) held a celebration on International Nurses and Midwives Day 2025, honoring its nursing and midwifery staff in recognition of their dedication and vital role in delivering care—and reinforcing their status as a fundamental pillar of Qatar’s healthcare system.
Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik, Managing Director of PHCC, said: “With pride and heartfelt gratitude, we celebrate International Nurses Day in appreciation of the soldiers of humanity who are always on the frontlines—providing care and planting hope in hearts. Nursing is not merely a profession; it is a noble humanitarian calling where the deepest meanings of mercy and selflessness are embodied.”
She added: “On this day, we extend our sincere respect to every nurse who has carried compassion in their heart and performed their duties with care for patients’ comfort and safety—making a real difference in people’s lives. Thank you for your devotion and commitment. You are the pulse of life in every healthcare facility.”
Beyond the Call of Duty
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Samya Ahmed Al Abdulla, Executive Director of Operations and Senior Consultant of Family Medicine at PHCC, shared: “On International Nurses Day, we stand in reverence of those who have made giving a way of life—whose hands have been a balm to patients, and whose hearts have offered a refuge of hope. Nursing is the quiet strength that often goes unseen, yet makes a difference every single day, every moment, with silent dedication.”
She continued: “The care and services that nurses provide at our health centers go beyond the call of duty. They are the backbone of any health system—the heroes behind the scenes who continue to give, because they believe in the sanctity of their profession. You have our utmost respect and appreciation, on your day and every day.”
PHCC made sure to mark this occasion with a dedicated event hosted at Umm Slal Health Center on Thursday, May 15, 2025, under the theme “Empowering Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery.” The event celebrated the vital role that nurses and midwives play in advancing healthcare in the State of Qatar. The international theme for this year—“Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies”—resonated throughout the day, reinforcing the value of supporting those who serve at the heart of healthcare.
