The 5th International Primary Health Care Conference Launches

Under the auspices of H.E Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al-Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, the 5th International Primary Health Care Conference, organized by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), was launched on Thursday, November 9th, 2023, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel under the theme "Primary Care Today: Lessons Learned and Future Action for Sustainability". The conference will discuss vital and important health topics with the participation of many local and international speakers to contribute and leverage from sharing successful and outstanding experiences in healthcare.

 

The 5th IPHCC, which will be attended by more than 1,000 participants from local and external health and academic institutions, aims to consider innovative health management systems and quality improvement initiatives for improved health outcomes and patient safety in primary care, as well as to identify the latest evidence-based options in managing the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases in primary healthcare settings and to recognize family and community-centered international best practices in health promotion and prevention.

 

One of the conference objectives is to compare approaches to health professions education, workforce training and capacity-building in primary health care practice, and to recognize the importance of research and its opportunities in primary care for improved population health outcomes.

 

The conference serves as a platform to share experiences and best practices through discussion sessions and workshops that will be held, as well as to provide researchers with the opportunity to showcase their research applicable to improvements in primary health care. In addition, the conference will host a medical exhibition that will enable healthcare organizations to display their latest innovations and contributions in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

 

 “Objectives Setting”

To achieve the objectives of the conference, PHCC has formed several ad-hoc committees such as the Organizing Committee to fully oversee the planning and setting of the conference’s objectives and follow up on the work progress with other committees. In addition, the Scientific Committee is formed to develop the themes, topics and sessions of the conference, attract and review submitted research abstracts, and select speakers according to the best and highest standards reflecting the level of the conference. Besides to the Logistics Committee to provide all the main requirements for holding the conference, ensure its readiness and supervise the organization of the exhibition accompanying the conference. The 5th IPHCC will deliver a diverse array of lectures including more than 30 platforms for interactive professional and scientific discussion between healthcare professionals to develop primary health services, allowing a valuable opportunity for shared experiences and best practices.

 

“Health Promotion”

The 5th IPHCC will cover key topics including health promotion, healthcare resilience during global crises, clinical practice updates in primary care, quality improvement, capacity building, models of care and innovations. In addition to specialized topics in infectious disease surveillance and control, mental health screening and management, and scientific advancements within the area of education and research of health professions, as well as a focus on optimizing health and well-being through lifestyle medicine, wellness, and a multitude of other topics.

 As part of its commitment to engaging and attracting students in the evolving primary healthcare field, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) launched the "Student Taskforce" which aims to bring together a select group of exceptional healthcare students and new graduates who share deep passion and unwavering interest in primary health care and research. This unique platform will allow students to unleash their creativity, expand their knowledge and communicate with renowned experts in the field of primary healthcare. Members of the student taskforce will gain unparalleled free access to the conference for their active contribution.   The IPHCC is among the most prestigious medical gatherings in the Middle East and reflects the commitment of the State of Qatar and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) to continuously developing the primary healthcare services as being a key pillar in the overall development.  

 

“Specialists and Experts”

The sessions will be moderated by experts and specialist from several countries such as GCC, UK, USA, Switzerland and Portugal. 6 workshops will be offered covering key topics in primary healthcare including the art of publication, quality improvement and patient safety, ethical dilemma in medical practice, approaching of common emergency problems in PHCC, PHCC clinical pearls and diabetic foot care for healthcare practitioners.

Furthermore, participants in the conference and training workshops will have the opportunity to gain 21.5 CPD points, and 100 research abstracts which have been reviewed by ad-hoc scientific committees will be showcased during the conference days for voting on the ideal research.
