5th International Primary Health Care Conference Concludes

The 5th International Primary Health Corporation (IPHCC), organized by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), concluded on Sunday November 12th, 2023. The four-day conference was held under the theme “Primary Care Today: Lessons Learnt, Future Action For Sustainability”.

 

The 5th IPHCC was attended by about 1,000 participants including healthcare professionals, stakeholders, researchers, policymakers, influencers, in addition to leading medical and academic institutions from all over the world. The participants discussed many topics that were addressed through 6 workshops and 30 sessions to contribute to the exchange of experiences and best medical practices in this field.

 

In this context, Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik, PHCC Managing Director and Chairperson of the IPHCC Organizing Committee, said that in this current stage nations are experiencing enormous environmental, developmental and health crises and challenges that caught the attention of many countries around the world and driven them to accelerate the adoption of sustainability standards to overcome those challenges and to ensure a better life for the present and future generations.

 

In her speech, she praised the great efforts exerted by the State of Qatar under its wise leadership, within the framework of the National Health Strategy and Future Vision 2030, considering human as the real investment that catapult the society to new heights of progress and development.

 

In addition, Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik outlined the main recommendations resulting from the conference including the need to enhance community engagement and cooperation across different sectors, focus on self-care, protect evidence-based options for patients to ensure addressing communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as highlight value-based care and patient wellbeing.

 

Recommendations also included fostering joint planning and experience exchange between GCC countries to establish the preventive public health program, strengthening partnerships with healthcare providers and academic institution to support research and education, enhancing cooperation and integration with social care institutions in addition to facilitating referrals between primary health care and associations specialized in women and child rights, addiction and violence.

 

Furthermore, Mr. Musallam Al Nabet, Deputy Chair of the Organizing Committee, honored the 5th IPHCC sponsors namely the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Ooredoo.

 

On another hand, Dr. Zelaikha Al Wahedi, Chair of the Scientific Committee, honored the top three winners of scientific abstracts, while Mrs. Huda Al Wahedi, Chair of the Logistics Committee, honored the exhibitors participated in the medical exhibition of the IPHCC where companies and manufacturers of pharmaceutical products, medical equipment and devices showcased their latest innovations over the conference.
