The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) USA has awarded accreditation to all 27 of PHCC’s laboratories based on the recent comprehensive inspections conducted last April as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Programs.

As the world’s largest organization of board-certified pathologists and the leading provider of laboratory accreditation and proficiency testing programs, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) serves patients, pathologists and the public, by fostering and advocating excellence in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine worldwide.

With the CAP accreditation, PHCC’s laboratories join the elite group of 8,000 plus CAP accredited laboratories worldwide. CAP accreditation is considered the gold standard of laboratory accreditation designed to ensure the highest standard of care for laboratory patients.

During the accreditation process, inspectors examine a laboratory’s quality control of procedures, staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management of laboratories.

Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, commented “This accreditation represents the high level of professionalism and expertise that is reflected in the outstanding patient care delivered at PHCC. The hard work and commitment of the PHCC team is what made CAP accreditation possible.”

Her Excellency congratulated the team for their continued and valuable efforts despite this challenging time that requires taking measures to ensure the highest quality of services on a permanent and ongoing basis.

With this accreditation, PHCC’s laboratories become the world's largest group of network laboratories accredited by the CAP outside the USA and one of the largest groups of Primary Care Laboratories in the public sector who are accredited by the College of American Pathologists.  The accreditation focusses on people, policy, processes, methods, material and environmental factors which impact laboratory result, and which may then further impact clinical decision making.

Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik, Managing Director at PHCC commented “I remain inspired by the hard work and resilience displayed by our teams, from the exceptional ability to achieve the accreditation without deficiencies, to professionally and swiftly adapting to virtual inspections during a very challenging time in healthcare.

For our patients, this accreditation means the highest standard of quality across all our laboratories, ensuring optimal patient care and safety, while delivering the most accurate results in parallel with international standards.”

Dr. Samya Ahmad Abdulla, Executive Director of Operations said, “CAP Accreditation showcases our laboratories dedication to continuous quality improvement so that we effectively meet our community’s needs, delivering evidence-based practice, ensuring better clinical outcomes and enhancing patient safety.”
