Success of the Active Life Exhibition for School Students

As part of the School Wellness Program’s efforts to implement the Youth and Adolescent Wellness Strategy, and under the Wellness for Community Intervention Department’s plan at the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), the Active Life exhibition was held at Rawda Bint Mohammad Secondary School for Girls on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The event, held under the slogan “Our Wellness,” aimed to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles among students. It was attended by Dr. Abdul Hameed Al-Khenji, Head of Wellness for Community Interventions at PHCC; Dr. Eiman Abu-Elshwarib, coordinator of the Active Life exhibition under the Wellness Program; Mr. Salman Al-Hazmi, Head of Physical Education Supervision at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE); Ms. Ghalia Bouhmoud, Activities Specialist at the Ministry of Education; and Ms. Mona Al-Rumaihi from MOEHE’s Security and Safety Department.

The exhibition opened with a welcoming speech by Ms. Bakhita Al-Adham, the school’s activity coordinator, who emphasized the importance of initiatives aimed at instilling healthy habits in students from a young age. She praised the cooperation among all involved parties in creating a safe and healthy educational environment. This was followed by a speech by Mr. Salman from MOEHE, in which he expressed the Ministry’s full support for such events that contribute to building a generation with good health and continuous activity. He also noted the Ministry’s intention to expand these initiatives across schools at large.

Dr. Abdul Hameed Al-Khenji also delivered a speech in which he stressed the importance of collaboration between schools and health entities and the need to provide an environment that motivates students to exercise and follow healthy lifestyle habits. He emphasized this as key to raising generations capable of facing future health challenges. During the opening, the exhibition’s official slogan was unveiled, serving as a call to elevate quality of life.

Al-Kharaitiyat School Showcase

The exhibition featured a vibrant sports performance by Al-Kharaitiyat Primary School for Girls. The students excelled in presenting a set of well-coordinated exercises that reflected high energy and fitness, engaging and energizing the audience. Additionally, schools from Al-Shamal region presented a variety of dramatic performances highlighting the importance of mental health and physical activity in creative ways, as students delivered awareness messages in engaging and entertaining formats.

Dr. Eiman Abu-Elshwarib, the program coordinator, explained that the Active Life exhibition originated as an initiative by Mohammed Bin Jassim Al Thani Preparatory School for Boys. She described it as an important step toward promoting public health in schools and expressed hope that the wellness department could expand the initiative to more schools in various regions in the future.

A Healthy Lifestyle

The Active Life exhibition is considered a key event aimed at increasing awareness about the significance of physical activity in human life. It delivers a clear message encouraging individuals to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, contributing to improved quality of life and the prevention of chronic diseases such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. The exhibition featured a range of booths focused on physical fitness, healthy nutrition, and avoiding unhealthy eating habits. It also included workshops and educational lectures led by health and fitness experts, helping visitors understand how to integrate physical activity into their daily routines in enjoyable and effective ways.

Interactive Workshops

The exhibition also included awareness activities and interactive workshops on proper nutrition, the importance of movement and hydration, sleep quality standards, and sustainable environments. These were presented by Ruqaya Preparatory School for Girls as part of MOEHE’s “Sustainability Ambassadors” initiative. In addition, live art workshops attracted students’ attention, and the Civil Defense Science Club from Al-Nahda Primary School for Girls participated with distinctive awareness content.

In conclusion, the Active Life exhibition played a key role in promoting a culture of physical activity and healthy living, establishing itself as an effective platform for building a strong and healthy community and encouraging individuals to improve their health and increase their daily activity levels.
