The Annual Health Check-up Service supports Primary Health Care Corporation’s (PHCC) health care providers to identify early if an individual has a disease or ailment, and assess their risk of developing health-related complications, which can then be managed by the individual’s family medicine team.
The service is provided across two visits:
Visit 1: The ‘Annual Check Assessment Appointment’ with a nurse.
Visit 2: The ‘Annual Check Consultation Appointment’ with a physician.
At the assessment appointment, the nurse takes the vitals, and helps the patient complete the Annual Health Assessment Questionnaire which has questions on personal history, family, social history and mental health. The nurse also helps the patient fill the Cancer Screening Assessment. This is followed by laboratory tests.
At the follow up Annual Check Consultation appointment, the family physician reviews the assessments and lab results, and based on the findings, guides the patient and refers necessary support, including PHCC’s wellness service which comes under the preventative care services. .
Registered Qatari and non-Qatari patients that meet the criteria are eligible for the Annual Health Check.
For all categories, patients with known risk factors including family history of chronic disease, age under 18, and BMI over 30, pregnant women, those with known non-communicable diseases, and unregistered are excluded.
For more information, you can ask your family physician on your next visit to your health centre, or you can call 107.
