Physiotherapy is a health profession concerned with the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of disease and disability through physical means. It is based upon principles of medical science.
A physiotherapy service in PHCC is considered as Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Services which mainly focus on maximizing function, movement restoration, strengthening and promotion of self-management.
Physiotherapy services are performed by physiotherapists (PTs). The core skills of physiotherapists include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and the application of various electro physical modalities.
The Physiotherapy Services delivered in PHCC will focus on the following conditions/diagnoses:
Acute muscular pain with Radicular Pain (Neck, Back)
Chronic muscular Pain with Radicular Pain (Neck, Back)
Ligament and Tendon Strain/Injury
Headache – Cervicogenic
Joints pain include: shoulders, hips, elbows, knees, fingers, ankle and foot
Osteoarthritis
Shoulder impingement/ rotator cuff syndromes/ frozen shoulder
Post fracture more than 12 weeks (spine and skull are excluded)
Post-surgical more than 12 weeks (Complicated Cases excluded)
Bell’s palsy
Postnatal low back pain
Patients who don’t receive the same treatment in any other hospitals at the same period of the treatment
Unstable vital signs
0-12 weeks post spine surgery.
0-12 weeks post joint replacement.
0-12 weeks Post fracture
Active psychiatric issues.
Severe and uncontrolled pain.
Patients with neurological problems including Stroke, Motor Neuron Disease, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis etc.
Abnormal level of consciousness (confused, stupor)
Confined to the bed and unable to mobilize.
Fully dependent on ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living).
Malignant diseases including those receiving chemotherapy.
Pediatrics diseases and disorders.
Patients below 14 and patients (bed ridden).
All registered and walk-in patients from age 14 and above are accepted.
Physiotherapy services are usually appointment based; walk in accepted only via internal referral by PHCC Physicians under the category of urgent.
(11) Health centers currently deliver physiotherapy services.
Health Centers that do not have a dedicated Physiotherapy clinic will refer patients to any Regional Specialized PHCC Health centers (RSC) in the same region, and the booking will be according to the first available appointment or patient preference (See table below).
